Do I need a special driving licence?

Most of our motorhomes can be driven on normal driving licences. Only the 6 berth Swift Sundance 630L & the 7 berth McLouis Tandy 640+ motorhomes requires that you to hold a Category C1 entitlement on your driving licence. Basically, what this means is that if you passed your driving test before 1997 then the C1 Category should automatically be on your driving licence.

How will I know how it all works - they seem very complicated?

When you pick up your hire motorhome you will be shown how all the main systems work. There will also be a full set of written instructions in the motorhome to save you having to remember everything. We also give you our mobile telephone number so you can call us any day of the week inlcuding weekend and Bank Holidays, we would rather you give us a call if you have any problems while hiring one of our motorhomes. First time hirers are really reassured with this service and have complete peace of mind while away.

How difficult is it to drive a motorhome - aren’t they very large?

On the whole, it is not too difficult. The smaller models, based on vans, are not much bigger than a large car and are pretty similar to drive. Larger, coach built motorhomes designed for families are slightly more difficult to handle, but they benefit from being based around modern vans, with good driving positions, large mirrors and power steering - so they are not as difficult as you might think.

 What Insurance do you provide?

Our Motorhomes have comprehensive insurance on the UK mainland for the named drivers on the hire agreement for the period of the hire, please note that this does note cover your personal property and you are advised to arrange holiday insurance separately.

You may take the Motorhome to Ireland or Western Europe, but we need to know in advance and you will need to purchase our European travel pack. (European cover is subject to approval by our insurers and is limited to average 250 miles per day)

Insurance Loading. Easy Hire Motorhomes may incur additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, is using a non-UK driving licence or is in an occupation which is deemed high-risk. These charges will be passed on to the hirer.

Standard Excess. The hire rate includes a standard excess of £1,000.00 (£1,250.00 European Travel). In the event of any damage to either the vehicle or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first £1000.00 (£1,250.00 European Travel). The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windows or tyre damage. For a small daily fee the Damage Limitation Waiver option will reduce your excess. Please ask for this option.
